Use a better, free CD player
CDmax is a great replacement for the Windows CD player. It lets you store CD artist, title, track, and notes information and supports the Internet-based CDDB library. This support includes CDDB submissions, CDDBP and HTTP protocols, and proxy servers with authentication on HTTP. CDmax can minimize to the system tray, with easy access to player functions through a right-click pop-up menu. Other features include auto start/stop on CD insertion and removal, indication of track progress via a scroll bar with allowance for fine position adjustments, and built-in volume control. In addition, CDmax tailors your track selection when you create a playlist; has random track play, repeat a track, and repeat playlist modes; and supports multiple drives and mixed-mode CDs. Best of all, it's free!
